nix is a sobriety companion. We treat the information you share with us with the care that subject deserves. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it.
Who we are
nix is operated by Getnix, the company behind the nix app and the website at getnix.net ("nix," "we," "us"). You can reach us at info@getnix.net.
What we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the service.
- Waitlist information. If you join the waitlist on this site, we collect your email address so we can contact you about early access.
- App account information. When the nix app is available to you, we may collect account details you provide, such as your name, email, and authentication credentials.
- Usage of the app. Lessons completed, tools used, journal entries, goals, check-ins, and similar in-app activity that makes the product work for you.
- Conversations with Bo. If you use Bo, our sobriety AI, we process the messages you send so we can respond to them. These conversations are sensitive, and we treat them as such.
- Device and technical data. Basic information sent automatically by your browser or device, such as IP address, device type, and crash diagnostics.
How we use it
- To provide and operate nix — the website, the waitlist, and the app.
- To respond to you when you contact us or sign up for early access.
- To improve the product, fix bugs, and understand what's working.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
- To meet legal obligations when they apply.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your in-app activity, journal entries, or Bo conversations to target advertising.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted vendors to run nix — for hosting, email, form handling, analytics, error reporting, and the AI model that powers Bo. These vendors only process information on our behalf and under terms that require them to protect it.
How we share information
We share personal information only in limited circumstances: with the service providers described above, when required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights and safety of users and the public, or as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition (in which case we will let you know).
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.
Retention
We keep information for as long as we need it to provide the service or to meet legal and operational requirements. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain uses. To exercise any of these, email info@getnix.net and we will respond within a reasonable time.
You can unsubscribe from the waitlist or any marketing email at any time using the link in the message, or by contacting us.
Children
nix is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
International users
nix is operated from the United States. If you use the service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
