These terms apply when you use the nix website, sign up for the waitlist, or use the nix app. By using nix, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Who we are
nix is operated by Getnix ("nix," "we," "us"). The website lives at getnix.net. You can reach us at info@getnix.net.
Not medical advice
nix is a sobriety companion designed to help you understand and address the patterns behind addiction. It is not a medical device, and it is not a substitute for professional medical, psychiatric, or addiction-treatment advice. Nothing in the lessons, tools, or conversations with Bo constitutes a diagnosis, treatment plan, or clinical recommendation.
If you are in crisis, experiencing severe withdrawal, or thinking about harming yourself or others, please contact emergency services or a qualified professional immediately. In the United States, you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Always consult a qualified clinician about decisions related to your health, including changes to substance use, medication, or treatment.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use nix. By using the service, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
Beta service
nix is currently in early development and limited beta. The service may be incomplete, may change without notice, and may contain bugs. Features may be added, removed, or modified, and access may be limited or revoked at our discretion.
Your account
When the app becomes available to you, you may need to create an account. You're responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us right away at info@getnix.net if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable use
Use nix for its intended purpose. Don't:
- Use the service to harass, harm, or impersonate anyone.
- Try to break, probe, or interfere with the security or operation of the service.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract the underlying code, models, or content except as the law expressly allows.
- Use the service in violation of any applicable law.
- Submit content you don't have the right to share, or content that is illegal, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights.
Your content
You keep ownership of the content you put into nix — your goals, journal entries, messages with Bo, and similar inputs. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the service for you. We will not use your private content to train public models without your consent.
Bo and AI features
Bo, our sobriety AI, generates responses using a language model. Its responses can be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. Treat them as a starting point, not a final answer — especially for anything medical, legal, or safety-related. Don't rely on Bo in an emergency.
Our content
The nix name, logo, lessons, tools, designs, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use them through the service. No other rights are granted.
Third-party services
nix may rely on or link to third-party services. We aren't responsible for those services or their content, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.
Changes to the service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the service or any part of it at any time, with or without notice. Where reasonably possible, we'll let you know in advance.
Termination
You can stop using nix at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms or if we need to for legal, security, or operational reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
Disclaimers
nix is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that the information it provides will be accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, nix and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on certain warranties or damages, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify nix against any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You and nix agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California for any dispute that isn't subject to mandatory arbitration or another binding process.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you directly. Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
